Contour App FAQs
What do I need to get started with Contour App?
How do I set up the app for the first time?
Can I watch live TV out-of-home?
Depending on your subscription, you can view more than 130 channels out of home. In the side menu, under Live TV, select TV Go Channels to see the channels that are available to watch anywhere in the US, both in and out of your home. Channels not listed are not currently available to watch out-of-home through the Contour app but may be available through that network’s own app using your Cox credentials (e.g., HBO MAX, ESPN, Fox Sports Go, etc.).
Can I download content to watch later?
Currently, you can only download recorded content from Starz and Showtime and any purchased content from your home set-top box.
How can I search for specific channels or shows?
From anywhere in the app, click the magnifying glass to initiate a search. You may search for a specific program or network.
When looking at the guide (under Live TV, All Channels), you may click the Find button to search for a specific channel number or network.
Why does the app tell me that I need to connect to my home Wi-Fi to watch my show?
Only specific TV channels (TV Go channels) are currently available for out-of-home. If you are not connected to your home Wi-Fi, you will only be able to watch TV Go channels. If you are connected to your home Wi-Fi, you should be able to access all the TV channels that you subscribe to.
If you are at home: Please make sure that you are connected to your home Wi-Fi network. If you still receive the message, try rebooting your Wi-Fi router and uninstalling/reinstalling the Contour app. Please contact Cox Support for additional help if you are still experiencing issues.
Can I set/modify recordings on my home DVR from the app?
Contour customers with the Voice Remote can schedule, modify and delete DVR recordings through the Contour app. To schedule a DVR recording, go to the Menu option in the top left corner of the app, select Live TV, select the desired show or movie in the live guide, and then select Record.
To manage DVR recordings, go to the Menu option, select the recorded content, select Recordings, and select Record Options.
Can I cast my content from the app onto my larger TV screen?
Due to DRM limitations and restrictions in our contracts with the TV networks, we are unable to support viewing on external devices at this time. However, you may cast to a larger screen from the desktop website, watchtv.cox.com.
Is there an app for Roku, Apple TV, or Amazon Fire TV?
The Contour app is currently not available on these smart TV devices. However, you can download and use channel-specific apps (e.g. ESPN, DisneyNow, Fox Sports Go, HBO Max, etc.) using your Cox account credentials.
Can I continue to stream or download purchased movies and shows on the Contour app after disconnecting Cox services?
Yes, you can continue to stream or download purchased movies and shows after you disconnect Cox services. Log into the Contour app or at watchtv.cox.com with your Cox user ID and password. Navigate to Purchased under the Saved menu.
