How is the Panoramic Wifi modem different than the other modem you offer?
The Panoramic Wifi Gateway is the only wifi modem Cox offers for rental. This device combines a DOCSIS 3.1 (3.0 for Internet Starter, Internet Essential and Internet Preferred) cable modem with a powerful 2-port gigabit wired router, dual band 802.11 AC wireless router which also supports 802.11 A/G/N.
How is Panoramic Wifi from Cox different from Luma, Eero or Google Wifi?
With a Cox Panoramic Wifi Gateway rental, we’ll make sure you have the latest software/firmware on the device. And, when it becomes obsolete or breaks, we’ll replace it. If you would like to manage your own network, the Panoramic Wifi app can help you do that. If you need help, our technical phone support is open 24/7 for assistance. Our professional installation includes a wifi signal strength assessment to ensure full wall-to-wall coverage, identification of any dead zones and recommendations for the best solution.
Why am I required to rent the Panoramic Wifi Gateway?
The Panoramic Wifi Gateway is only available for a monthly rental fee to our customers. We do this to make sure you continue to have the newest and best devices in your home as technology advances. Our rental policy makes it possible for us to upgrade the software and firmware on these devices, and also protect and manage devices connected to our network. Plus, you'll be eligible to swap for upgraded equipment every three years at no additional charge.
What are Wifi dead zones?
Dead zones refer to areas within a Wifi network where signal is unreliable or absent. They can be minimized or eliminated by placing your router in an unobstructed location such as on top of high furniture or "line of sight" locations. In instances where obstructions can't be avoided, such as between floors or around walls in large square-foot homes, Panoramic Wifi Pods can reduce or eliminate in-home dead zones so you have consistently fast Wifi coverage throughout the house.
Can I buy the Panoramic Wifi Gateway?
Our Panoramic Wifi Gateway is only available for rentalso that you continue to receive the latest, most advanced equipment and are not “locked in” to a device when technology changes. You may provide your own modem, wifi router or combination device (click here for a list of supported devices). However, we will not be able to provide any support for your home network unless you rent the Panoramic Wifi Gateway. This allows us to provide the best experience and support possible to you.
What is Panoramic Wifi Advanced Security?
Advanced Security gives added peace of mind for your home network by preventing you from accidentally visiting malicious sites or downloading dangerous files, as well as blocking remote access to smart devices from unknown or dangerous sources.
How can I get Advanced Security or smart wifi features?
If you're a Panoramic Wifi subscriber with a Technicolor CGM4141 or Arris TG1682 gateway, just log into the Panoramic Wifi app to get started with Advanced Security and smart wifi. If you have an older gateway version, click here to upgrade to the newest Panoramic Wifi Gateway at no additional charge.

Weak wifi signals can occur in large homes for many reasons, with the most common reason being the thickness or material within walls or floors. Get stronger wifi signals in more places with Panoramic Wifi Pods. Panoramic Wifi Pods enhance coverage to reduce dead zones and provide reliably fast wifi throughout your home.
What is the Cox Hotspots feature of the Panoramic Wifi Gateway?
Your Cox Panoramic Wifi Gateway broadcasts an additional SSID, “CoxWiFi” network signal, creating an extension of the Cox Wifi network right in your home. This service is completely separate from your private home Wifi network and allows guests who are eligible Cox Internet subscribers to sign in and connect without sharing your secure network password. Cox Hotspots are intended for qualified Cox customers visiting your home whose speed tiers include Connect2Compete, Preferred, Ultimate, and Gigablast. The Cox Hotspots feature is included with your Panoramic Wifi device at no additional charge. The “CoxWiFi” SSID has a separate data stream, so it will not impact your speed or usage.
Advanced Security and smart wifi features require a subscription to any level of Cox Residential Internet service with Panoramic Wifi (Technicolor CGM4141 or Arris TG1682). If you have a different Panoramic Wifi gateway, see cox.com/upgrademymodem to upgrade your device at no additional charge.
